See Our Work: Solar Panels on a Family Home in Widcombe
For this property in BA2, we installed a 21-panel system, with a string on each of the East, South and West facing elevations. Each string has a maximum production capacity of 3kw giving in total a 9kW system. As each string is on a different elevation it creates a consistant production of solar power from first light through to the evening. The PV is paired with a 13kWh battery system which will keep the house powered through the night and can top up during the night if there is not enough solar to run the house on the 7p perKW off peak tarrif*. It also allows for an export for production above the needs of the household to the grid. Combined with a smart tariff this has allowed the homeowner to have virtually zero electricity costs during the summer months including charging an electric vehicle. In line with the Distribution Network Operators requirements the maximum export was capped at 5kw. The system now provides over 70% of the family’s annual electricity needs.
