What You’ll Be Doing as a Gas Engineer?

As a Gas Engineer for BPM Contracting Services, your responsibilities will include using your ACS qualifications to conduct gas fault finding, annual servicing, and installations at various residential and commercial sites while ensuring high quality safety standards.

Gas engineer jobs in Bristol often provide gas fire servicing as part of their work. A recent service call offered an engineer valuable experience in this important maintenance task.

The clients had noticed their living room gas fire was no longer igniting correctly. Upon examination, the engineers discovered some loose connections to the gas valve. After tightening these joints, there were still issues with pilot ignition.

A thorough cleaning of the pilot assembly and thermocouple was then performed. Any carbon deposits or dust were removed to ensure a strong pilot flame. Once relit, the fire now stayed lit as expected.

To complete the service, the engineers conducted a full operational check. This included verifying the gas/air mixture, heat output functionality, and safe cut-off response if the pilot flame was extinguished.

The clients were very satisfied with the restored fireplace. For trainees in the industry, tasks like this build competence in fireplace systems. It also highlights the troubleshooting abilities gas engineers use to support homeowners in and around Bristol every day.

Through hands-on training and experience, the next generation of professionals can develop the skills for a rewarding career ensuring the safe operation of gas appliances.
