What You’ll Be Doing as a Multi-Trade Operative?
As a Multi-Trade operative at BPM Contracting Services, your day-to-day jobs will be varied. Utilising your trades experience, you will provide high-quality services and exceptional customer service on domestic and commercial properties. This includes repairs, maintenance, refurbishments, and renovations.
As a multi-trade operative for BPM Contracting Services, no two days are the same. One of the most recent multi-trade jobs in Bath involved refurbishing a kitchen unit and securing a dwelling for Sanctuary Housing.
The kitchen unit was in need of some TLC. First, the multi-trade operative renewed the plinth on the base unit by removing the old melamine and replacing it with a new vinyl wrap finish. This involved careful cutting and fitting to ensure a seamless finish.
Next, they overhauled the entire kitchen. This was a more involved process of replugging and rescrewing the units to the walls. Then they eased and adjusted any doors that were not closing properly and refitted new hinges. Handles, pull-outs and drawer fronts were also secured. Any loose veneers were reglued and drawer runners were adjusted for a smooth open and close.
After inspecting the kitchen thoroughly, the multi-trade operative identified several holes around the room where rodents could potentially enter. To prevent any infestation issues, they filled all the gaps with expanding foam for a tight seal.
The final part of the job was securing the entire dwelling. As a multi-trade operative, they have training in areas like carpentry, plumbing and general repairs. This allows them to tackle a variety of tasks on any given multi-trade job in Bath. For this property, they ensured all windows and external doors were locked securely.

What We’re Looking for in a Multi-Trade Operative
- NVQ 2/3 or equivalent experience in Carpentry, Building, or a similar field.
- Experience with roofing or minor glazing would be highly beneficial.
- An up-to-date CSCS card and CRB check are preferred but not essential.
- Experience with domestic and commercial properties is a bonus.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Highly organized and detail-oriented.
- Strong work ethic and positive mindset.
- Drive to be successful.
- Problem solver with a keen attention to detail.
- Valid, clean UK driving licence (a company vehicle is provided for this position).
- Basic Criminal Record Check Clearance is required.
