What You’ll Be Doing as a Gas Engineer?

As a Gas Engineer for BPM Contracting Services, your responsibilities will include using your ACS qualifications to conduct gas fault finding, annual servicing, and installations at various residential and commercial sites while ensuring high quality safety standards.

Gas engineer jobs in Melksham often carry out tasks related to hot water systems. A recent job gave a trainee experience replacing old pipework.

The client's storage cylinder and feed/vent pipes showed signs of corrosion after 15 years of use. Engineers examined the fittings and determined replacement was best.

First, sections of the vent and incoming cold water pipes were cut away using mechanical pipe cutters. This allowed separation from the cylinder.

New pipe sections were then fitted using compression fittings and jointing compound on the threads to seal and protect from leakage. Copper pipe was used for its durability and ability to withstand hot water temperatures.

After refitting insulation, the cylinder and pipes were refilled and bled of air. To test, taps around the property were run until hot water flowed without issue.

Tasks like replacing outdated pipework let trainees practice plumbing skills while improving systems for customers. It highlights how gas engineers support safety and reliability beyond just gas appliances.

Through hands-on learning, the next generation can gain proficiency working with domestic water heaters and related components across Wiltshire.
