What You’ll Be Doing as a Gas Engineer?

As a Gas Engineer for BPM Contracting Services, your responsibilities will include using your ACS qualifications to conduct gas fault finding, annual servicing, and installations at various residential and commercial sites while ensuring high quality safety standards.

Gas engineer jobs in Bath often include tasks like power flushing central heating systems. This essential maintenance procedure helps remove sludge and scale build up, improving efficiency and safety. A recent project tackling this issue provided useful experience for a junior engineer.

The homeowners' system was long overdue for a flush after 15 years of operation. Upon arrival, the engineers isolated radiators and drained the boiler before installing filtration equipment. A chemical cleaner was injected to break down deposits in the pipes.

A high-powered pump then circulated the solution at high velocity throughout the entire heating circuit. This forcefully removed loosened debris without scrubbing. Engineers monitored filtration bags collecting flushed-out waste.

Several cycles thoroughly deep cleaned each component from boiler to farthest radiator. The system was then drained, refilled with fresh inhibitor water and restarted.

Before departing, the engineers checked for proper pressurisation and bled trapped air from the radiators. Satisfied with the cleaned system's restored flow, they issued a report advising on maintenance to support ongoing efficiency and reliability.

For those interested in an HVAC career, power flushing exposes trainees to important water treatment principles. It represents a critical function gas engineers undertake through Bath-based companies to enhance safety and performance for local homeowners.
