BPM is proud to announce its latest accreditation as it joins the Living Wage Foundation’s fully accredited Living Wage Employer scheme.
In a commitment to our organisational value of ‘Employee Development,’ we not only help our employees develop in their careers by providing levels of high-quality training that are significantly above the average for our industry, we also voluntarily pay all members of staff at least the real Living Wage. For BPM, it’s always been one team; everyone is treated fairly and in accordance with our ethical trading guidelines, and pay is a significant part of it.
Moreover, we are also promoting it to our clients, the supply chain, and the broader market to improve the lives of those on low wages in our industry.
So, what is the real Living Wage?
A living wage, recognized by the UN as a human right, is a wage that is sufficient to afford a decent standard of living for a worker and their family.
By law, all companies must pay at least the national minimum wage. The Living Wage, however, involves voluntarily paying a higher rate based on the true cost of the basket of goods and household services one needs daily. Whereas the Living Wage foundation more precisely describes it as an hourly rate of pay, calculated each year independently based on the real cost of living in the UK.
We see the Living Wage as a productive investment, as a happy employee base results in more motivated, customer-directed effort and hence heightened customer satisfaction.
Volunteering into this scheme shows that we’re truly passionate about our people, and today we are delighted to be awarded the mark of a responsible employer.
