BPM is Stroma certified & Green Deal approved

We’re delighted to share that we are Stroma certified, meaning we can install the different green deal measures in
accordance with the recent requirements of PAS 2030:2014. This certification
includes multiple energy efficiency improvement measures such as cavity wall
insulation, draught-proofing, flat roof insulation, floor insulation, internal
wall insulation, loft insulation, and pitched roof insulation.

What
exactly is the Green Deal?

The Green Deal is the new way
householders and businesses can make energy improvements to their homes or
offices without up-front payments. These energy improvements are paid back over
the long term (for example, 25 years) through repayments made via your energy
bills. The aim is that your loan repayments shouldn’t be higher than the
savings you make on your energy bills, however this is based on an estimate of
a typical household’s energy usage and does not take into account energy price
increases, so is not guaranteed.

Green
Deal Home Improvement Fund

The Green Deal Home Improvement Fund
(GDHIF) is a government incentive to encourage energy-efficient home
improvements. Launched in June 2014, it allows homeowners, tenants and
landlords to claim back up to £7,600 for any qualifying home improvements
made.

What is
PAS 2030

Published by the British Standards
Institution, PAS 2030 stands for ‘Publicly Available Specification PAS 2030’
and is a quality requirement for installing energy-saving measures in existing
buildings.

Eligibility
Criteria

The key criteria you must meet to
qualify for funding are:

  • The
improvements had to be recommended on an Energy Performance Certificate
(EPC) that was less than 24 months old or on a Green Deal Advice Report.
  • The GDHIF
could not be combined with funding for the same installation from the
Energy Company Obligation (ECO), the Green Deal Communities Scheme, or the
    Green Deal Cashback scheme.
  • The
customer had to register for their GDHIF voucher on the application
    website or by telephone.
  • Customers
had to have the improvements installed by a registered Green Deal
Installer or Provider within six months of receiving the voucher.
  • The
voucher had to be countersigned by the Green Deal Installer or Provider
    once the installation was complete.

Safeguards
in place

To serve and protect consumers, there
are various protection measures already in place, including:

  • An
assessment from an authorised Green Deal assessor to determine what is
    suitable for you.
  • Authorised
installers are committed to high quality and standards.
  • Existing
legislation which governs mis-selling, unfair trading practices and
    consumer credit agreements.
  • Robust
Code of Practice for all Green Deal participants.
  • Clear
confirmation procedures before Green Deal repayments begin.
  • Collection
of payment through your electricity bill, regulated by Ofgem.
  • Transparent
processes when a property changes hands to ensure people know about the
Green Deal before they move in; and
  • A clear
process for dealing with complaints, which includes a designated
    independent Green Deal Ombudsman.

So, if you want to install
draught-proofing or loft and wall insulation, you may qualify to do so by using
a Green Deal loan. Contact us today to make your home and properties more
energy efficient and hence greener.
