BPM is F-Gas Registered through REFCOM

We’re pleased to announce that we’ve secured a F-Gas certification through REFCOM under REF1012310. This certification means BPM has demonstrated that we employ a fleet of qualified personnel to cover the installation, maintenance, and servicing of stationary refrigeration, air conditioning, and heat pump equipment containing or designed to contain certain fluorinated greenhouse gases.

More about REFCOM

REFCOM promotes environmentally responsible refrigerant management, having recognised the need for employers to better control the use of refrigerants and prevent their release into the atmosphere early on. REFCOM is also the UK’s original and market-leading F-Gas approval and registrar of organisations accredited as competent to handle refrigerants, provide air conditioning and refrigeration services. It conducts random surveillance and audits to enforce the F-Gas regulations and an organisation’s continuing certification. They also work closely with the Environment Agency and Defra to monitor compliance.

F-Gas Certification requirements

F-Gas certification is a legal requirement for any person, as well as companies, handling fluorinated greenhouse gases for other businesses or individuals. In addition, any business that operates equipment containing F-gases must fulfil certain obligations regarding its installation, maintenance, and disposal, including regular leak checking, accurate labelling, and robust record-keeping.

Why are these regulations in place?

Not only do F(Fluorinated)-gases have a high global warming effect on the atmosphere; they can also damage the ozone layer if they leak into the environment. The good news is that F-gases are safe if they’re properly contained. The principal objective of these regulations (which is under EC Regulation 842/2006 on certain fluorinated greenhouse gases) is to contain, prevent and thereby reduce emissions of F-gases covered under the Kyoto Protocol.

What this certification implies to BPM and its customers:

  • We work to industry codes of practice and are competent in the handling and disposal of all refrigerants.
  • We’ve got the correct calibrated and tested equipment.
  • We’ve trained engineers that hold the right qualifications and certifications.
  • We can supply all required information and supporting data in compliance with current legislation.

By hiring an F-gas certified company such as BPM, you can be assured that you’re fulfilling your legal requirements. We will be happy to discuss a regular maintenance plan with you, regardless of whether another company, or we, fit your system.
